Meet the Leadership Team

Meet Denis Cleary, the Interim CEO of Metamo. Denis earned his degree in Computing and Mathematics from University College Cork before joining Fexco in 1990. He played a crucial role in developing the Dynamic Currency Conversion concept and gained valuable experience in Senior Executive Positionsduring his career with Fexco. Denis is highly skilled in product development and team leadership, and also holds a Diploma in International Sales from DIT.

Denis has a keen interest in global current affairs and enjoys Gaelic Games. Having grown up in a small rural community, Denis recognizes the pivotal role credit unions play in improving the lives of their members and the community that they serve.

Ciara became the HR Director at Metamo in 2019. With over 16 years of experience, Ciara has been a trusted advisor to executives, managers, and employees in various business environments. Prior to joining Metamo, Ciara worked at Fexco Group HR where she provided HR thought leadership and guidance to high-performing teams. She was responsible for executing HR strategies and associated programs that supported the business needs.

Additionally, Ciara has worked for KPMG Ireland and a property management firm in Sydney, Australia. Ciara holds a Bachelor of Social Science, a Master’s in Human Resource Management, is a Certified Mediator (IMI), a member of CIPD, and qualified in Occupational Testing with British Psychological Society (BPS) membership.

In October 2019, Tony joined Metamo as the Head of Lending. His main responsibility was to analyse the current lending environment of Credit Unions and come up with short and long-term business proposals for delivering Metamo lending services. This would help Credit Unions design more effective and efficient credit products across various risk classes.

Tony has over 30 years of experience in senior lending and credit transformation roles, having previously worked as the Head of VW Bank – Ireland and with AIB Bank. He holds an MSc in Business Administration from Trinity College, Dublin, along with all relevant regulatory and professional qualifications necessary for handling senior Credit and Control Function roles.

Liz joined Metamo as Business Financial Strategy Manager 2019, bringing 13 years of financial planning and analysis, financial due diligence and audit experience to the company.

Before joining Metamo, Liz worked as an Equity Analyst at Davy Capital Markets, performing financial analysis, research and valuations on publicly listed entities. Prior to this, Liz held deal advisory roles at FTI Consulting and KPMG UK, advising clients across a broad range of industries on M&A.

Liz is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Studies with a focus on German. She obtained her Chartered Accountants qualification from KPMG Ireland and is currently a member of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Micheál became the Chief Technology Officer for Metamo in 2019. He previously held the position of Head of Infrastructure and Security at Fexco Payments and FX division. Before joining Fexco, Micheál spent a decade working for the Swiss state-owned telecom company Swisscom in Switzerland.

Benita became the manager of Metamo’s Financial Advisory Service team in 2021. With previous experience managing AIB’s General Insurance business and EBS’s Bancassurance and general Insurance offerings, Benita brings extensive knowledge of the Insurance and Banking sectors to her role. Prior to this, she has also worked at Accenture, Bank of Ireland Life, and Irish Life. Benita holds an MSc in Financial Services from UCD, is a Certified Financial Planner, a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and a Licentiate of the Institute of Bankers.
